JobSeeker Payment Dates & Reporting
How fortnightly JobSeeker payments work: report first, then get paid — plus waiting periods, holiday early-reporting, and how to see your personal dates in myGov.
Fortnightly flow: report → payment
JobSeeker is paid fortnightly. Your reporting day and payment day are personal. In most cases, after a claim is approved (and any waiting periods end), you report income each fortnight, then payment is released — often within about 1–2 business days of a successful report.

Official Services Australia guidance: after approval, many people receive a first JobSeeker payment around 2 weeks later (unless a waiting period applies). Always confirm in myGov.
Common waiting periods before first payment
Ordinary waiting period
Some people wait about one week before JobSeeker starts. Services Australia tells you if this applies when you claim.
Liquid assets waiting period
If you or your partner have liquid assets over set limits, you may wait 1–13 weeks before payment starts.
Income maintenance / leave lump sums
Leave or redundancy lump sums when you finish work can create an income maintenance waiting period.
Seasonal work preclusion
Seasonal, contract, or intermittent work ending in the 6 months before your claim can delay the start date.

Public holidays & early reporting
When your reporting day falls on or near a national public holiday, Services Australia usually opens early reporting and may adjust payment timing so you are not stuck waiting for a closed day. Exact adjusted dates are published closer to each holiday (often a few weeks ahead for Christmas).

If you report early for days you have not worked yet, estimate carefully and correct the report in myGov if the real figure differs.
